{"id":4200,"date":"2020-10-12T23:58:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T20:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.equitas-consulting.com\/?p=3256"},"modified":"2026-04-05T19:04:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T19:04:43","slug":"singapore-convention-of-mediation-enters-into-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.equitas-consulting.com\/tr\/insights\/singapore-convention-of-mediation-enters-into-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore Convention of Mediation Enters into Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Convention of Mediation Enters into Force\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On <strong>12 September 2020<\/strong> the Singapore Convention entered into force, at a digital celebration organised by the Singapore Ministry of Law and UNCITRAL.<\/p>\n<p>Last year on the 7th of August the Convention, also known as the United Nations (UN) Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equitasconsulting.co.uk\/advisory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mediation<\/a>, was signed by the members of over forty countries including Turkey, Qatar, United States and China.<\/p>\n<p>As of 1 September 2020 the Convention has 53 signatories, and 6 countries have already ratified it.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected that the Convention will provide a more effective way for enforcing mediated settlements of commercial disputes involving businesses in the countries that are signatories to the Convention.
